ZwolleDoet! is the starting point for volunteering, informal care and family caregiving. The organisation works as a ‘supply and demand’ system in which organisations and volunteers can find each other. In this way, ZwolleDoet! aims for a high degree of self-reliance for volunteers, people seeking help and volunteer organisations in Zwolle. This way, everyone can use their talents and qualities for someone else. Or rather, for each other. ZwolleDoet! also aims to bring the various volunteer organisations in Zwolle together and make them easier to find.

SamenZwolle also falls under ZwolleDoet!. Here too you can find and post volunteer work, but also everything you can do for and with each other in a broader sense. Think of help in the garden or a walking buddy. From citizen to citizen, in other words.

The challenge

Zwolle offers an enormous range of volunteering opportunities. Countless organisations are connected to ZwolleDoet!: think of the Red Cross, the local football club or mental health care institutions. All organisations that could use people who are willing to roll up their sleeves, even if only for a few hours a week. ZwolleDoet! wants to bring these volunteers and organisations together. The old system did not meet the needs. It could not cope with the growing number of contacts, and so it stood in the way of efficiency (recruiting volunteers).

That is why ZwolleDoet! came to Doop. The question: can we create a platform in which organisations can maintain and manage their volunteer management, activities and requests? There was also a wish for input, such as an open vacancy, to be published automatically on several sites, and for users to be able to post requests and activities and respond via those sites themselves. In short, an application for the complete management of incoming information, from two sides: the organisations and the volunteers.

The solution

And so the management application was born: a ‘self-service’ platform that streamlines all communication between users. Organisations, volunteers and citizens (in need of help) can log in to ‘Mijn Omgeving’ (My Environment) themselves to manage vacancies, activities and requests and to view the responses they have received. ZwolleDoet! is in charge of the application itself and streamlines all incoming communication ‘behind the scenes’. A complete dashboard gives full insight into all communication flows and lets you create exports, for example for analysis or for subsidy purposes. The flows are largely automated, so requests go straight to the right party. ZwolleDoet! no longer has its hands full processing and translating countless requests.

The result

As a result, organisations can post vacancies and requests exactly the way they want, while keeping the matching in their own hands. Responding to a vacancy is also very easy for volunteers, because you don't need to create an account. You can quickly filter by your area of interest: think of vacancies in sport, or in arts and culture. ZwolleDoet! sees that use of the application and the number of responses are increasing as a result. The combination of communication, marketing and the management application means this way of working adds a lot of value for everyone involved.

Finally, the result is not only a dynamic management application, but also a co-creative partnership. Every two weeks, Doop holds a session with key users and other stakeholders within ZwolleDoet! to add improvements and new features. So no “you ask, we deliver”, but a proactive partnership for continuous optimisation.
